Delays for AKG
Hot band of 2004 The Delays are endorsing AKG microphones in a deal set up by UK distributor Harman Pro. The highly credible contemporary darlings of UK indie are appearing at major festivals throughout the summer and are currently in the US on a showcase tour promoting their acclaimed debut album ‘Faded Seaside Glamour’.
The AKG deal was put together by Andy Duffield, and at the moment includes three sets of AKG C5900 condenser vocal mics. It started with Harman supplying one microphone for lead singer Greg Gilbert. This was such a great success that they came back to Harman wanting additional C5900s for the backing vocals of Aaron Gilbert (keyboards) and Colin Fox (bass). Harman are also looking into supplying C414s for the kit.
The high SPL C5900 was chosen for its amazing sonic quality and virtual indestructibility! An ‘Acoustic selection’ switch enables the user to fine tweak for their specific acoustic needs, and the C 5900 provides excellent pitch, high resolution and supreme fidelity with a supercardioid polar pattern. These and other features introduce a whole new level of sound clarity, whilst maintaining the mic’s incredible feedback rejection facilities.
It is an ideal mic choice for a sharp, kick ass band like The Delays. Their sound features an elegant, dynamic and very powerful vocal cocktail of raw-edged sexiness, and AKG is the perfect medium to bring out the intense extremes of Greg’s vocal – from visceral falsettos to a dark grungy growl.
Harman Pro’s Andy Duffield said: “The Delays’ are one of the UK’s most exciting up-and-coming bands. I think they have a great future, and it’s great to be associated with them.”
