Fourth Phase Enjoy a Big Gay Out

It may have rained on the parade but for the second year running Fourth Phase London put on their dancing shoes and helped celebrate the high point of the British gay community’s calendar on Saturday 2nd July.
Further cementing their relationship with events company Just Add Water, Fourth Phase provided a wide array of equipment and crew for the 32nd annual Gay Pride Party. The skills of lighting designer Daniel Bocking were also used to help turn Finsbury Park into a carnival wonderlandas envisioned by Faceparty’s creative director, Dave Bamforth.
Forming the focal point of the proceedings, the Big Mutha main stage boasted a large G-LEC LED curtain, ensuring the 20,000 strong crowd was captivated while big acts such as Emma Bunton, The Sugababes and The Fun Lovin Criminals belted out the tunes. Using 428 feet of truss Bocking opted for a conventional rig that included 20 bars of six, 12 Molefays and 12 High End Systems X. Spot Extremes controlled from an Avolites Diamond 4 console and 72-way dimmer.
The Faceparty Dance tent hosted by Trade, the Ford Urban Music tent presented by Queer Nation and The Bump, the Girlsworld tent hosted by Firmed Up and the Gash House tent hosted by Face Party all benefited from Fourth Phase’s expertise. The brief for the four separately themed DJ-led dance tents was to create a theatrical, night club feel in the middle of the day, achieved with the use of Martin Professional MAC 600s and High End Studio Colors.
Claire Sampson, director of Just Add Water and production director for Big Gay Out said: “It all went extremely well in terms of production and we once again enjoyed fantastic support and co-operation from the Fourth Phase team. They delivered a fantastic service and were a pleasure to work with.”
Between dances managing director of Fourth Phase, Alan Thomson, said that this was their most colourful audience yet and had provided an exciting, challenging and wide-ranging brief, which the company had relished fulfilling.
Note: following the completed merger of PRG and VLPS Lighting Services International, all companies within the group will trade under the PRG name. As a result, Fourth Phase London will now be known as PRG Lighting.
