LiteStructures Sets Up Musicians Channel

LiteStructures, the company that was instrumental in putting together the first set for the revolutionary music programme The Tube, has recently provided the set to the newest music channel, the Musicians Channel. This new, free-to-air channel is aimed at budding musicians and is dedicated to encouraging, inspiring and educating people with an interest in musical activity. Programme content includes tuition and advice on guitar, bass, vocals, drums and percussion, keyboards and harmonica.

The challenge that Musicians Channel’s set designer Shaun Burley set LiteStructures was for a versatile adaptable stage set that could be changed according to the segment being featured. LiteStructures’ solution was a simple yet extremely effective combination of AstraLite and LiteDeck, both of which are ideal for creating interest in a variety of configurations. Adrian Brooks, managing director of LiteStructures explained: “We used LiteDeck and AstraLite because they are both light enough to manoeuvre easily and flexible enough to set up in a variety of combinations. They are also quick and easy to put together – which is, after all, the point!”

Jonathan MacDonald, Musicians Channel CEO and co-founder, said of LiteStructures: “I wouldn’t use anyone else. Having been in the music industry for over 12 years, LiteStructures is the most professional set and staging company I know. One of the reasons for this is their vision. They grasped our designer’s concept and took no time in turning it into a reality – which was not as easy as it sounds.”

Jools Holland and Brian May are in the potential line up of artists due to appear on the channel and a range of top class musicians will feature in the tutorial segments. ‘Tips and Tricks’ snippets will complement the programmes to give viewers a better understanding of becoming a musician.

Adrian Brooks added: “Musicians Channel is seminal in what it will do across Europe and we are extremely proud to be associated with this project – there is nothing else like this out there and it is compulsive viewing. To use an Americanism, this is ‘edutainment’ at its level best.”
