Puro’s Synco and XTA Power the Sound of Luis Represas

Portugese folk star Luis Represas is playing a string of prestigious dates around the country this summer with an audio system supplied by Lisbon’s Puro Audio. The system features a Renkus-Heinz Synco Touring System PA, driven by an extensive array of XTA signal processing and digital dynamics. The most recent concert, promoted by Oficina da Ilusao at an open-air plaza in Loulé on the Algarve, played to an audience of 6,000 in mid June.

The standard PA system for Luis Represas consists of left and right arrays of Renkus-Heinz Synco Touring System Mid/High and Low cabinets, driven by Crown amplification. XTA DP100 and DP200 controllers, Puro’s standard accompaniment to their RH-STS systems, are used for time alignment and crossover functions. More XTA hardware, in the shape of GQ600 graphic equalisers, stage boxes and RT1 spectrum analysers, feature in the system racks while the effects racks add XTA SIDD DP324 dynamics processors, C2 dual compressors and G2 dual gates to the engineer’s palette of audio tools.

Mixing is performed on Midas XL3 and Heritage consoles and further effects include Lexicon PCM91, Yamaha D5000 and SPX990 units and a TC Electronics M5000, with an ASL intercom.

José Manuel of Puro Audio comments: “We’ve been very happy with this combination of the RH-STS PA, XTA and Midas; they combine brilliantly to make a versatile system that’s easy to set up on the road and very powerful. Every sound engineer here likes to work with this system because of the sound quality and reliability.”
