Robe UK Supplies Pro Technical

Robe UK has supplied moving light fixtures to Derby-based sales and installation company Pro Technical for a variety of Aruba Late Nite Bar brand installations.

Two of the most recent are Redcar and Middlesborough. Pro Technical’s Richard Anderson chose Robe 160 XTs because they are neat and small, yet the optics and light output is far brighter than other comparable brands, and there’s the added advantage of being able to insert your own gobos into the 160 XT. All Aruba installations feature the company gobo in the lighting scheme.

At Middlesborough, they’ve rigged four 160 XTs on the dancefloor – which adds plenty of colour, texturing and buzz to the area, plus 10 Robe ColorMix 240 ATs, the powerful wash-type colour changing units – which are all located around the perimeter of the room. The VIP area at one end of the room is also illuminated by the Color Mix fixtures.

Anderson first became turned on to the advantages of Robe’s product range during the Walsall Aruba project 18 months ago, and he’s used them on every one since, “The price is right, the light output is impressive and they are proving to be very reliable. Apart from that, I get great service from Robe UK” he states.

The Redcar installation features four Robe 160 XTs downstairs in the bar and four upstairs, right at the centre of the club lighting rig.

Another recent Pro Technical club installation making use of Robe fixtures is Graffiti in Skegness, which features 10 Robe DJ Scan 150s, two Spot 250s and 6 DJ Scan 250s …. And there are several others in the pipeline for this summer.

Anderson explains that Pro Technical likes to design and programme a lightshow individual to each venue, rather then just installing a rig of flashing lights and leaving. “It’s vital that all the fixtures can work together and be complementary rather than clashing. You need to create the right energy flow around the room, and to build excitement as well as punctuate the moodier musical moments”, he explained. Robe is an ideal brand choice because of the breadth, range, price and good build quality of their products”. He also likes the combination of scans and moving heads to create the end effect – their contrasting lightsources and effects work well together. He adds that Robe’s cost-effectivity also offers plenty of scope for choice of which fixtures to use.
