Cleararc from Power Gems
Power Gems has re-named its range of high frequency ballast-ignitor products ‘Cleararc’ following thousands of hours testing showing a major slowdown in lamp de-vitrification.
This significant improvement in lamp quality is important in all aspects of lighting but is particularly so anywhere projected images or gobo patterns are used, as their clarity is maintained beyond the rated life of the lamp. As an example of improved performance, it is difficult to detect the difference between a 575W Cleararc driven lamp of 1,000 hours and a brand new lamp!
The unique patented ballast range with integrated hot re-strike ignitor (cold strike versions available too) has fewer parts and generates less heat than conventional systems even with an active unity power factor correction stage. Fewer parts and less heat mean reliability increases. It does not require fan cooling in usual applications, it is lightweight and more cost effective than it’s conventional counterparts.
This product range is suitable for many different lighting sectors which include Moving/Intelligent lights, Theatrical, Architectural, Event and Film & TV applications.
At Plasa 2004 (stand P51) both the modular and stirrup mounting versions of these products, which won the PLASA award for technical achievement last year, can be seen.
Showing for the first time at PLASA will be the integration of Cleararc ballast technology with Strand Lighting’s 575W PAR and Fresnel luminaires, a ‘one piece of kit’ solution eliminating separate ballasts, expensive cables and importantly noise of lamps and ballasts.
The Cleararc range at present covers 400W – 575W in cold and hot re-strike options suitable for HMI, MSR, HID, and some UV discharge lamps, UL – recognition pending.
