Denon DN-S3000s Cash-in at The Banc

Welsh contractors AB Acoustics have undertaken a complete multimedia fitout at The Banc, near Newport, South Wales, with a solid oak wraparound DJ booth (plugged with Denon DN-S3000 table-top CD players) as one of the centrepieces.
A fan of the Denon pedigree for the past 20 years, AB Acoustics’ Rob Ashton knew he needed to look no further than the feature-rich CD/MP3 scratch player after seeing it launched at the 2003 PLASA Show. Offering the same turntable emulation feature as the premium DN-S5000 he sensed it would be ideal for the weekend DJ’s working the 350-capacity venue, which has applied for a late licence.
“We are aware of the reliability of Denon because we run their mixer and playback devices in our hire stock,” says Rob. “We never have any problems — and neither have the DJ’s here.”
One of those DJ’s is the highly-experienced Steve Corten — who also operates the Banc for owner (and local businessman), Serj.
He said that a solid oak booth deserved to be fitted with the finest. “The S3000 does exactly what I want. It gives me sampling, reverse play and pitch bend — and it’s really easy to mix on. Playing the music I play you couldn’t get any better.”
The S3000’s playback function also fully supports MP3 seamless looping, scratching, hot start, ID3 Tags and File Search System. In addition, the tabletop device has a Removable Slot In Drive and a unique 7” Vinyl Disc Adapter, which grants DJ’s the freedom to install their favourite vinyl record on top of the platter, for the ultimate in analogue turntable emulation.
AB Acoustics configured a dual-mode playback protocol — operating a background music system during the daylight hours, before giving way to punchier dance music after dark. It forms part of a multimedia extravaganza in which the clientele is fed a diet of sport and VH1 type music from both satellite, terrestrial and DVD split feeds, via a combination of six 15in LCD monitors behind the bar, a pair of 42in plasmas and a giant 84in plasma display up on the raised dining area.
