ETHOS Array on show at PLASA
The ETHOS array previewed earlier this year at Pro-light and Sound has made its UK debut at the Newmarket Race Night events. The popular Friday night event, which hosts an early evening race card followed by a band has run through July and into August. A diverse range of bands has included Blondie, Blue, Jools Holland and The Sugababes, while acknowledged engineers such as Steve Levitt and Snake Newton have taken their turns at FOH. The system has received a universal thumbs up and delighted all at Merlin Productions, the hire company responsible for the shows.
Neil Allen principal at Merlin has invested heavily into ETHOS with the purchase of a 40Kw system including, 24 VA boxes, 12 B2 bass cabinets and 8 SB2 subs. The sale also included 8 of the new LM20 monitors as well as four system amp racks. Amplifier power in line with the fast developing touring standard comes from Lab Gruppen.
Neil’s reaction to the shows underlines Logics believe that ETHOS really is Array for the real world, He commented, “If you take the Jool’s show as an example, where the band brought in their own boards and monitors, we were able to supply a PA to an audience of over 24K shipped to site in two Mercedes Sprinter vans, I rest my case. Sonically it is as good as anything on the market and the detail makes it so easy to use. It ground stacks as easily as it flys, it fits into a van and is completely adaptable, the throw and clarity at distance are surreal. Last Friday we used four flown arrays of six VA enclosures at Newmarket followed by three ground stacked VA cabinets per side on a Capital Radio gig on the Saturday. Gigs do not come more diverse, but the system shone in both applications. We are a smaller company, but ETHOS opens up whole new horizons to us, the attention to detail means it ticks every box.”
Naturally ETHOS will form the backbone of the forthcoming PLASA stand along with a substantially revised product range grouped under the ETHOS umbrella. To find out more drop past stand K70, PLASA 2004, September 12-15th.
