Showsec Secure Madonna

Showsec Secure Madonna

Showsec managed the crowds at Manchester MEN Arena and Earls Court for Madonna’s sold-out ‘Re-invention’ World Tour.

Madonna has maintained her position as one of the world’s highest profile pop celebrities, attracting huge levels of attention from the media and fans and these shows were Madonna’s first in the UK for several years and attracted the expected levels of interest.

Showsec works in partnership with the management of both the MEN Arena (Manchester) and Earls Court (London) on an ongoing basis to provide crowd management services. When the Madonna shows were announced, Showsec liaised with European promoters Solo, Madonna’s security team, the venues and local emergency services to ensure an effective security operation was planned and implemented. In Manchester 175 staff were deployed to manage the whole venue, whilst in Earls Court 300 Showsec staff looked after the audience in the ‘front-of-house’ areas.

Solo’s Mark Ward said: “Showsec did a great job working along with the other tour security parties and all four shows went entirely without incident.”

Bryan Lewis managed the first two UK shows at the MEN Arena, before the tour moved on for a further two dates at Earls Court, where Steve Reynolds ran the Showsec operation. Steve commented: “The atmosphere was great with well behaved audiences who obeyed all the safety rules at both shows and our staff maintained a friendly relationship with them. The tour management were very particular about there being no flash photography once the show had started due to the complex choreography throughout the show, so we focused additional staff to request that no-one used flash cameras and people responded very well.”
