ABTT in Glasgow: An Introduction to Theatre Archaeology

On 5th and 6th October the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama are hosts to the ABTT Theatre Archaeology Group and Peter Longman, director of Theatres Trust.

The evening events start at 5pm at RSAMD, 100 Renfrew Street, Glasgow with a videoed interview for the Theatre Museum and ABTT Archives. This programme, started 10 years ago, records the experiences of many high achievers in technical theatre and design.

The highlight of the evening is a light-hearted presentation by seven members of the Theatre Archaeology Group led by Roger Fox, tracing the origins of modern theatre technology from limelight, gel, theatre machinery and Corsican traps, and when circus came to the theatre.

It’s a unique event and all are welcome, and to stay and mingle at the reception afterwards.

On the 6th there will be a further interview and theatre visits.
