Autograph and Aviom Launch New Mic Input Module
Autograph Sales launched Aviom's brand new AN-16/i-M mic input module at PLASA. The AN-16/i-M is a rack mounted mic and line level input device that contains 16 high-quality microphone preamps with 24-bit A-to-D converters. Each channel has a three-segment level LED meter, a continuously variable gain control, phase reverse switch, phantom power switch and rumble filter. The rear panel is fitted with combo connectors that can accept either XLR mic or 1/4-inch line level jack inputs, together with the A-NET output.
The expandable 'digital snake' system uses A-NET, Aviom's propriety network protocol, a revolutionary new technology that allows up to 16 channels to be transmitted through a single cable with only 3 microseconds of latency per additional device. Any number of output devices can be connected, creating the world's first infinite splitter.
Unlike a traditional analogue audio snake, the new system offers a distribution facility in the digital domain, avoiding the need for huge racks, as well as providing easy to install CAT5 cable as a substitute for heavy multicore, which can run for up to 500 feet (150 metres) between devices.
The AN-16/i-M can be used as part of a digital snake, along with all existing products in the Distributed Audio Network line, including the recently launched A-16ii personal mixer and Aviom16/o-Y1 Yamaha output card. It also sits alongside the already available 16-channel line input and output modules.
