Kevin Campbell Moves to New Position at APT
APT has announced the promotion of Kevin Campbell to the position of hardware sales engineer, with particular responsibility for the post-production and broadcast sectors in Southern and Eastern Europe and also the Broadcast Sector in the US.
Campbell is a graduate from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow and the University of Ulster (UU) and holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Computing and Information Systems. He began his career as a PC and network technician at the UU where he was responsible for hardware maintenance, upgrades and trouble-shooting and also network management and administration.
In 2000, he moved to Energis Ireland (formerly Nevadatele.com) where he worked within its Network Management Centre (NMC) with joint responsibility for a multi-million pound all-Ireland fibre optic communication infrastructure. His duties covered monitoring, administration and configuration of a range of network elements including Nortel SDH Multiplexers, Nortel DMS100 central office voice switches and Alcatel Mainstreet Xpress data switches.
Campbell joined APT in July 2003 as customer support engineer, a first-line customer-facing role that involved assisting customers with a variety of technical enquiries across the entire APT hardware audio codec product portfolio. His duties included conducting remote testing and dial-ins with customers and liaising between engineering and R&D on second and third level fault resolution. He has also represented APT at a number of trade fares and conventions in Las Vegas, Amsterdam and Berlin, and has travelled as far as Korea in the name of APT customer satisfaction.
His promotion will enable him to focus on building and strengthening relationships with APT’s existing distributors throughout Europe and also on forging new relationships and acquiring new distributors particularly in the EC accession countries. Within the US he will be responsible for increasing awareness of the apt-X low delay high quality audio compression algorithm among US radio broadcasters, thus increasing APT ‘s penetration within the hardware audio codec market. Early successes include a number of WorldNet Milano units to the Spanish telecommunications giant Telefonica and a number of WorldNet Rio units to Generation Rock Radio in Canada. Both sales were achieved in partnership with the respective distributors in these territories, Sapec of Spain and Marketing Mark Vallee of Quebec.
Commenting on his promotion, APT’s commercial director Jon McClintock says: “Kevin’s addition to APT has been enormous as he has brought into the company a significant knowledge of IP and networks. With the new range of APT codecs offering Broadcast Audio over both IP and Synchronous networks, his skill set has been vital in understanding the needs of our customers.”
