PLASA Next for Alcons Audio
Alcons Audio attended the ABTT Theatre Show in London in June, where visitors had a sneak preview of the all-new Q-series pro-ribbon line-source modules. The series is being designed as solution to get ultimate intelligibility in "acoustically challenging" environments. The scalable ribbon-arrays combine a very high directivity with totally controlled dispersion. The Q-series will be previewed at the coming PLASA show this month in London.
Right after ABTT, Alcons was present at a very successful Cinema Expo convention in Amsterdam and launched the CR1 ultra-compact 3-way cinema front system with a depth of only 18cm/7" deep.
Throughout the season, the Ribbon line-array system has made substantial inroads in the rental market around the world. In different shoot-outs with well-respected A-brands, the remarkable features are clearly audible, say Alcon.; Latest deliveries have taken place in South-Africa, Germany, Norway and the Netherlands, with a large number to follow coming months. Recent gigs of The Ribbon Network members included concerts of Toto, Alicia Keys, Seal and Alanis.
Finally, with the increased attention on pro-ribbon technology, Alcons has taken the initiative to open a discussion board on the internet. With over 20 years’ experience in developing high-power ribbon transducers, and to take away prejudice on efficiency, fragility, etc., the Alcons R&D team thought it a good idea to share questions and answers with interested parties.
