The Producers Choose White Light and The Moving Light Company

The Producers are coming to London - and they have chosen White Light and The Moving Light Company as their lighting suppliers.

One of the biggest hits ever seen on Broadway when it opened there in 2001, The Producers is an adaptation of Mel Brooks’ classic film, brought to the stage by director/choreographer Susan Stroman. The New York production won a record twelve Tony Awards, including the prizes for Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Book, Best Direction of a Musical, Best Scenic Design, Best Costume Design and Best Lighting Design!

All of these award winners, including Susan Stroman, set designer Robin Wager and lighting designer Peter Kaczorowksi, will soon see their work re-created in London, with a new production opening at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Working with them will be US associate lighting designer Mick Smith and a British technical team including production manager Richard Bullimore, UK assistant lighting designer Alistair Grant and production electrician Gerry Amies.

The Producers sees Peter Kaczorowski continue his working relationship with White Light: the company also supplied the equipment for his designs for She Loves Me at the Savoy Theatre and Kiss Me Kate at the Victoria Palace. For The Producers, White Light will supply a rig consisting mainly of ETC Source Four profile spots along with Strand 6" Fresnels, L&E Ministrips, Lycian followspots, Wybron colour scrollers and smoke machines from MDG and Le Maitre. The Moving Light Company will supply an automated rig including 34 Martin MAC2000 Spotlights, 16 Martin MAC2000 Performance Spotlights and six Martin MAC 2000 Wash units. The rig will be controlled by an ETC Obsession 2 and a Whole Hog 2.

The Producers opens at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on 9th November. The production also continues White Light's long-standing association with the theatre, to which it supplied the equipment for the ten year run of Miss Saigon followed by The Witches of Eastwick, My Fair Lady and the current production, Anything Goes.
