Barco World Economic Forum Strategic Partner

The World Economic Forum, the foremost global organization encouraging partnerships of business, political, intellectual and other leaders of society committed to improving the state of the world, is holding its 35th Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland from 26th to 30th January 2005. Barco has been a Strategic Partner of the World Economic Forum since 1998and has been a member of the World Economic Forum since 1986.

   Under the theme ‘Taking Responsibility for Tough Choices” the Annual Meeting programme will provide the framework and tools to master the tough issues. The programme themes, global agenda, business, science & technology and values, arts & culture will reflect aspects of “taking responsibility for tough choices”. About half of the sessions address the many aspects of the global agenda with a special emphasis on twelve issues, labeled the ‘Tough Issues’. These are: China, Climate Change, Equitable Globalization, Europe, Global Economy, Global Governance, Islam, Middle East, Poverty, United States Leadership, Weapons of Mass Destruction and World Trade.

   At this year’s Annual Meeting, Barco has equipped the congress hall, the conference rooms and the executive’s lounge with a total of 14 network centric visualization solutions. These innovative iQ Pro projectors, offering high brightness and high resolution, have a built-in display server and will be connected to the local secured network. This will enable the service people to perform remote control and diagnostics and suit as such the typical presentation and conference needs requested by the WEF. Malte Godbersen, Director of Knowledge Management at WEF, states: "Barco as a strategic partner to the World Economic Forum provides ‘state of the art’ projection services to the Annual Meeting 2005 in Davos. With Barco’s networked solutions we will be able to switch presentations more smoothly and to react faster in case of unforeseen problems."
