Busy December for Utopium Lighting

Scotty Moore - guitar player and manager for Elvis Presley - performed in December with some of the world’s most prestigious musicians at the Abbey Road studios. Bill Wyman, Dave Gilmour and Eric Clapton were among the many names honoured to be playing a tribute alongside Scotty Moore himself. And Utopium Lighting Ltd. were asked to light the televised show using 14 x-Spot Extremes, 12 Studio PC Beams, six Lycian followspots, 84 Par 64s, 140m of truss and 28 hoists.

For the Deutsche Bank Christmas Event of the South Bank in London, Utopium presented their new 24 Chromaspheres. Lit by Lestyn Thomas, performers were Bjorn Again. The units are part of Utopium Lighting’s continued investment in LED lighting and added a perfect “festive touch” to the remainder of the lighting rig.

The Bentley garage in Berkley Square saw Tommy Hillfiger launch his new clothing range. The event was lit by Utopium and Chris Bushell (LD). for Outer Sanctum. Apart from not marking the £145,000 cars, the technicians needed to get the show in from ‘scratch’ in less than 2 hours.

Utopium continued their work in the world of TV with a Christmas special for NIA – (LD Martyn Rourke), the ongoing RISG shows in Cardiff and ‘Up Your Street’ at the Pop Factory.

Goldie Looking Chain and Alabama 3 performed separate concerts in December both lit and serviced by Utopium, and Bjorn Again were the latest of several bands to be performing in Guernsey. The Utopium lighting and ground support were all shipped over from Bristol.
