Getting Serious at Big Brother

The latest Big Brother winner was ex Happy Mondays dancer Bez – initially considered an outsider – but attracting huge public support along the way and squeezing Blazin’ Squad rapper Kenzie and actress Brigitte Neilson into second and third places respectively.
Serious was contacted on the Tuesday, late afternoon by producers Endemol, after deciding they wanted the stage for the final evictions live on the Sunday. They received and approved the quote, and within 24 hours, the equipment was being prepped and the truck loaded at Serious’s HQ in Pilton, Somerset.
Eight Serious crew, led by crew chief Shaun Dixon began the build on the Thursday morning. The stage was a standard Serious 1-bay Orbit roof system, measuring 12 metres wide by 12 metres deep and consisting of a D-end, a single arch 5.8 metre bay and a single arch and Cantilever at the front. Two new fabric cantilever sheets – black inside and silver on the outside and ground-to-ground sheets were commissioned by Serious, and made by their regular Cardiff based supplier, Intension. These were delivered to site separately.
The stage was completed and ready for lighting, audio, set and other production elements to commence their get in on the Saturday morning.
At the end of the show itself, all the house guests emerged and walked down a catwalk and onto the stage, where they were interviewed by Davina McCall before taking their seats for the final announcements, watched by a live audience in front of the stage – and up to six million Channel 4 viewers!
Serious also worked on the previous Big Brother series, supplying a stage for the whole 12 weeks.
