Neil Darracott Forms Xolve
Neil Darracott, formerly technical director of Total Fabrications, is now a full-time director of Xolve Limited, a company he founded at the end of last year. A chartered engineer and industry innovator with over 15 years’ entertainment technology experience, Neil has been responsible for a diverse range of ‘firsts’ in both one-off solutions and products. Examples include TV and radio broadcast equipment, lighting, rigging, automation, video display and projection, sound and, most recently, lightweight structures.
Commenting on the new venture, Neil says: “With Xolve I aim to build on a background combining rigorous engineering with creative thinking. By bringing in others with complementary expertise into the business, I will offer a high performance resource to manufacturers and service providers across all disciplines.
“The entertainment technology sector is obviously one with which I am familiar. There are many small and medium sized enterprises realising the artistically driven dreams of clients and – possibly the ultimate in demanding end-customer - the general public. I see this as a core market for Xolve, typically requiring the highest level of technical competence combined with world-class creativity. Establishing and sustaining the essential high-energy mix of engineering design and conceptual problem solving is increasingly a challenge for companies – one that Xolve is well placed to meet on behalf of its customers.”
Regarding Total Fabrications, Neil reflects: “At Total Fabrications I was responsible for many ground-breaking innovations. These include the award winning T2 product family (a structural system with integral protection for personnel against falls from a height); numerous spectacular stage sets and bespoke structures; as well as less glamorous but significant developments in Total Fabrications’ standard product range, the Birmingham manufacturing facility and global brand presence.
“It’s been a privilege to work with Total Fabrications’ visionary managing director Chris Cronin. We’ve established a strong relationship over the years, one which I look forward to maintaining in the future on both a personal and commercial level.”
Xolve has already won a contract to provide engineering design coordination and project management to Total Fabrications, working on the stage and set for a high profile tour due out on the road in early spring.
