Showsec Support Tsunami Relief Concert

The largest charity concert since Live Aid took place at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium over last weekend in aid of the Tsunami relief project, with Showsec supplying backstage security for the event.

Sixty-one-thousand tickets were sold for the event, and on the night music fans danced along with top British acts which included Eric Clapton, Jools Holland and The Manic Street Preachers in a seven-hour music extravaganza.

Showsec provided a management team and over 100 stewards for the event, covering all backstage and front of stage security areas with their Cardiff Office controlling the project, led by area manager, Yvonne Peterson, who explained: “The fact that this gig was for the Tsunami appeal made the whole job that bit more special. We were brought in to secure the backstage areas after a few of the main named acts who were performing asked for us. It was a high spirited but friendly atmosphere and our staff interacted very well with the audience who were there to have fun. Some of our staff really entered into the spirit of the event and donated their wages to the charity."
