AKG Launch WMS 40 PRO
Among the many new products launched by Harman Pro UK at this year’s PLASA exhibition, is the new WMS 40 PRO, the latest generation, entry level wireless microphone series from AKG. The WMS 40 PRO provides new features and professional performance derived from the technology of the premium WMS 4000 and WMS 400 systems.
Offering professional performance and a range of system options, the WMS 40 PRO is aimed at low cost, fixed installation, sound reinforcement, and conferencing and presentation applications. New features include frequency selectability – WMS 40 PRO FLEXX – full multi-channel capability, with the ability to use up to nine WMS 40 PRO systems together on intermodulation-free frequencies (up to seven simultaneous channels with the Single and Dual systems), license-free UHF operation on ISM frequency systems, single AA battery operation for transmitters, and dual transmitter operation with a single receiver – WMS 40 PRO Dual.
The all-metal cased receiver features improved design, and professional controls provide clear indication of operating status at a glance. All components and controls are optimised for ease of use. The FLEXX receiver has balanced XLR and unbalanced 1/4 inch jack outputs, with adjustable squelch and volume controls. The Dual and Single receivers have balanced 1/4 inch jack outputs. All systems incorporate AKG’s renowned High Definition Audio Performance technology for assured professional audio quality and wireless transmission.
Handheld microphone and belt-pack transmitters feature a ‘soft-touch’ finish and operate for up to 30 hours on just a single AA sized battery. Compatible transmitters include the microtools transmitters – SO 40 snap-on, TM 40 plug-in, WP 40 micropen, and GB 40 guitar bug transmitters – the smallest in their class. All systems are fully backward compatible with previous generation WMS 40 system components. An optional dedicated charger accepts all WMS 40 PRO and microtools transmitters, to enable use with rechargeable batteries.
WMS 40 PRO systems are supplied with either HT 40 handheld microphone transmitters, PT 40 miniature beltpack transmitters with clip mic, PT 40 miniature beltpack transmitters with headworn microphone system, or any of the microtools transmitters, and come in three variants.
These are: the WMS 40 PRO FLEXX single channel systems, with three selectable frequencies, for up to nine inter-modulation free channels with multiple systems; the WMS 40 PRO Dual with two independent channels within a single receiver, provides a cost saving means of dual vocal, instrument or mixed vocal and instrument wireless operation; the WMS 40 PRO Single is a fixed frequency single channel system.
Vocal, presenter, and instrument sets are all available in FLEXX, Dual and Single system variants, while Sports sets are available in FLEXX and Single variants.
