Lighthouse Screens on Location in Germany
Football fever will be sweeping Germany next summer with Lighthouse LED screens playing a forward role in broadcasting the 2006 World Cup Finals to thousands of fans.
Based in the south Germany town of Renchen, leading audio/visual provider Cassiopeia Veranstaltungstechnik is taking delivery of 16 panels of Lighthouse R19 LED screen in October, ready to bring all the excitement to the fans. But before then the screens will be subjected to a range of challenges, where their ruggedness and reliability will be key factors.
“There is a large area of southern Germany where mobile LED screens are not currently available. We wanted the best product to serve that market and fit with our high quality lighting and sound portfolio,” says Cassiopeia’s Martin Heuberger. “You only get one chance to impress a customer, so it’s vital that you get the best.”
One of the challenges to which the Lighthouse R19 will be ideally suited is a month-long sojourn at an outdoor ice rink in the town of Offenburg. Here the screen will complement Cassiopeia’s sound and lighting rigs, showing a range of sponsored footage. “We looked at different LED screen systems,” continues Martin. “But one stipulation was that it must be absolutely weatherproof. We need total reliability in rain, snow and ice! We have hired Lighthouse LED screens before buying the R19 and were very impressed with the performance.”
Another advantage for Cassiopeia is Lighthouse’s reputation and the high quality of technical support. “Lighthouse is a global player,” says Martin. “We are the first to stock their products in this part of Germany and therefore fast technical support was very important. We asked other companies who own Lighthouse screens and they all said that the technical backup was excellent.”
The first event that the panels will be used at is television show Wetten, dass. The celebrity-based game show takes place in different cities and the Lighthouse R19 will be on location with the show in Mannheim.
“The R19 screen has proved to be a very popular solution for rental applications in the European market,” says Lighthouse’s director of sales for western and central Europe, Michiel Hettinga. “We’re seeing a steady increase in sales. Return on investment is a key factor in any rental company’s purchase decision. The knowledge that they will be using a superior product means they are getting forward bookings, such as this one for Cassiopeia, and their screens can start working for them immediately they take delivery.
