Ricoh Arena Opens with Showsec
The newly opened multi-purpose Ricoh Arena, the new home ground for Coventry City FC, hosted its first concert with Bryan Adams playing in the Jaguar Exhibition and Events Hall as part of his Room Service World tour. A capacity of 7,000 fans turned out at the new venue where Showsec was brought in to handle the crowd management requirements.
Showsec, has been appointed to support Compass, the appointed venue management consultants, to create a good safe environment and customer friendly atmosphere for the public. They have been contracted to supply all of the stewarding and crowd management services for the Jaguar Exhibition and Events Halls at the Ricoh Arena.
At the Bryan Adams, concert Showsec’s Alan Wallace and Simon Pope managed a team of 40 supervisors and staff helping people find their way around the new venue and maintain a friendly atmosphere.
Alan commented: “The fans were very good natured so the main challenge was to design and monitor the crowd flow around the venue and adjust the systems to match the requirements. After the gig everyone was happy that planning and management had worked well throughout the night and the Ricoh Arena should prove a popular venue in the years to come.”
Health and Safety procedures at events are also under the management of Showsec, who have supplied Phil Cobourne (with many years experience working in this role on events at Warwick Castle) as consultant safety officer to the Ricoh Arena.
