Sennheiser Evolution 900 Series Microphones Win 2005 TEC Award

Sennheiser was recognized with the Technical Excellence & Creativity (TEC) Award for Microphone Technology/Sound Reinforcement for the Evolution e900 Series of backline mics at the 21st annual TEC Award ceremony. The presentation was made at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City on October 8th during the annual AES convention.

Introduced in 2004, Sennheiser's 900 Series of wired stage microphones feature powerful transparent sound, are highly insensitive to handling noise and have excellent transient response and feedback rejection. Tight and uniform polar patterns, tighter manufacturing tolerances and gold XLR pins are common to the entire line.

The 900 Series microphones are designed for professional musicians, PA rental companies and rehearsal studios, and are optimized to handle an extremely wide range of electric and acoustic instruments. The e901 is a condenser PZM specifically designed for kick drums, whilst the e902 is a dynamic mic optimized for kick drums, bass guitar amps and other low-frequency sources, from baritone sax to tuba. The e904 and e905 handle extremely high SPLs and are designed for toms and snare respectively. Both these mics have removable headgrilles and the e905 is a shortened version to allow easier placement over the snare.

The e906 has three switchable EQ settings and is ideal for miking guitar amps. The e908 is available in variants optimized for bass, percussion and brass. The e914 is an all-purpose electret condenser for demanding applications such as drum overheads, orchestras, acoustic guitar and piano.

Two vocal microphones round out the 900 Series. The e935 is a cardioid vocal stage microphone for the working musician that is specially designed to perform under pressure while cutting through the mix with its high output. The e945 is a supercardioid lead vocal stage microphone specially designed to work under rigorous conditions while exhibiting a naturally smooth response.

This is the third TEC Award honour for Sennheiser since 2002. The company was awarded top honours in 2003 in the Wireless Technology category for the hybrid Sennheiser SKM5000-N/Neumann KK105-S, and in 2002 won in the Ancillary Equipment category for the Sennheiser HD280 Pro headphones.
