Stage Technologies Provide 'Smooth Moves' for Hampstead Theatre
Stage Technologies were commissioned by scenic set builder Liverpool Scenic Workshop to work, in collaboration, on the design and supply of an automated control system for Hampstead Theatre's new production of 'Nathan The Wise'.
Jason Barker, managing director at Liverpool Scenic Workshop, required a system that would allow seven large scenic panels to fly smoothly, quietly and accurately on stage and knew this could not be achieved with simple chain hoists.
Stage Technologies, lead by director of show automation, Ted Moore, were able to provide a high-tech lifting system that would meet all of the production's requirements and that could be rented out at a very competitive price. Working within very tight deadlines, the system was installed at the Hampstead Theatre just two days before rehearsals began on stage. This is the first time that Stage Technologies has supplied equipment to the venue and their engineers provided on-site training and support to the show crew during the fit-up.
Jason Barker said: “It was a pleasure dealing with Stage Technologies, and Ted Moore in particular. I was immediately confident that he understood the complexities of the project and that I could rely upon them to deliver the solution I required.”
Tom Albu, production manager at Hampstead Theatre commented: "Stage Technologies have provided the perfect solution for our production at a good price. They provided great pre-fit and on-site training and fantastic support throughout. Our project may have been small in comparison to the West End musicals that Stage Technologies support but we were made to feel equally as important and given a specialist service."
