Arena Seating Installed in UK Music Hall of Fame
The second annual UK Music Hall of Fame attracted many legends of the music industry to Alexandra Palace this month, featuring six live performances and executive seating from Arena Seating.
Aretha Franklin, the Eurythmics, Jimi Hendrix, The Kinks, Joy Division/New Order, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath and John Peel joined the prestigious ‘band’ of musicians already selected (in last year’s inaugural event). An elite ‘steering committee’ selected the artists deemed to be the most important artists of the past 50 years from around the World whose impact on music is unrivalled.
Producers of the TV program, Endemol, were keen to create a show that reflected the status of the artists involved, so when it came to seating the audience they (in liaison with set designer Bill Laslett) contacted Arena Seating.
Arena Seating’s project manager, Martin Clark, has many years experience in working on awards ceremonies including the Brit Awards and MTV Europe Awards, so working with Arena’s design team created a fairly typical seating plan for this kind of event. They were not only mind-full of the comfort of the audience but also ensured the high standard of finish required for the live audience and TV cameras was achieved. An additional bonus of using padded seating through-out also helped Brit Row (sound suppliers) achieve a great sound in (the acoustically challenging) Alexandra Palace.
The seating in the VIP area immediately in front of the impressive stage-set comprised 600 Arena Diplomat seats, arranged (on flat) to give luxury, comfortable seats for the star-studded guests.
Behind the Diplomats, Arena Seating installed 2,000 ‘In-Style’ seats to create further comfortable viewing in a tiered format. These were angled to give good sightlines for every-one and had easy access from the front and rear staircases.
The Music Hall of Fame’s production manager Paul-Anthony Viollet commented:
“Working with Martin Clark and the Arena Seating Team on the UK Music Hall of Fame was an absolute pleasure from beginning to end. Arena worked closely with the production from day one, in order to optimise the audience experience.
“The use of ‘Diplomat’ seats for the VVIP’s added a gravitas to both the event and the TV show. There is no doubt in my mind that Arena Seating are the number one seating company in the country, and the only company I would consider for an event of this scale.”
Arena’s sales director Dave Withey commented: “It has been a pleasure to work with another high profile event with such professionals as Bill Laslett and Paul-Anthony Viollet.”
