Lighthouse LED Screens Find Sweet Home at Alabama
Leading French video company Alabama Evenemential & Media has made a massive investment in 50 square metres of Lighthouse R6 6mm LED screen, bringing its ultra-high resolution and image quality to a range of high profile events.
Alabama is a subsidiary of Dushow, the primary group of companies in France dedicated to professional lighting and sound. Although the company was created at the beginning of 2005, the Alabama team has 20 years of experience in large format video production and has worked with many leading French artists. The company also provides multimedia services for content management and transfer.
30 square metres of the R6 screen is currently on tour with rock/pop band Kyo throughout France, Belgium and Switzerland. Positioned upstage, the screen is used to show a mix of live camera pictures and graphics from an Electrosonic media server.
Alabama’s Didier Viricel is on tour with the screen and described how things are going. “We are very happy,” he says. “The Lighthouse R6 has many advantages over other screens. Its 3000 Nits brightness is exceptional - in our opinion the most powerful of the market for this pixel pitch. It is also easy to install, which is essential when you are moving to a new venue every two days. And its modularity is a great advantage, it allows you to use it in a very creative way.”
Didier goes on to explain why Alabama committed itself to such a major investment in Lighthouse R6 screen: “We wanted to offer our customers a new solution - more powerful, easy-to-use and content-oriented than what they are usually offered,” he says. “The partnership between Alabama and Lighthouse was obvious to us. The technical support is incredibly fast and reliable, and the partnership will allow our two companies to be a major player in the French market.”
After the Kyo dates, the R6 screen will be going out on tour with chanteuse Lorie. “But even more exciting is that Alabama will have a massive 70 square metres of Lighthouse R6 and 70 square metres of Lighthouse R10 screen on what Didier describes as “one of the biggest shows of 2006.”
“It happens in January 2006, but we can't say any more just yet!” he adds, with a grin. “Many more great shows are also planned for 2006, which will feature Lighthouse LED screen at their core.”
“This is a very significant alliance for us,” adds Lighthouse’s director of sales for Western and Central Europe, Michiel Hettinga. “Alabama is one of the most prominent companies in the French market and their confidence in Lighthouse is a powerful endorsement of both our commitment to quality products and dedication to servicing our customers.”
“The R6 is our flagship screen,” adds Lighthouse managing director Mark Chan. “Its quality, reliability and robustness have been proven over and over. Our patented M4 technology is a unique offering in LED screens and this gives greater value in terms of investment to our rental partners. And the fact that our panels are maintainable on-site is critical to the time sensitive nature of the rental market.”
Lighthouse screens are used in numerous entertainment events, national tours and concerts for artists like Sting, Bon Jovi, Metallica and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the MTV awards, the Festival di San Remo.
The company has also seen its products used in many high visibility LED screen installations, including the Coca Cola and Samsung flagship advertising site in London's Piccadilly Circus, Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, the thrillingly successful Live 8 shows in Hyde Park and Berlin, the G8 conference in Scotland and F1 Grand Prix worldwide, as well as on the set of Queen's ‘We Will Rock You’ show in Las Vegas, London, Melbourne and Cologne, the ‘Art for Life’ benefit gala at the Hamptons, NY home of Russell Simmons and Kimora Lee Simmons.
Lighthouse has gained increasing recognition for its innovative approach to LED screen manufacture. In addition to the recent prestigious 2005 IBC Exhibition Design Award, it was nominated for Manufacturer of the Year in the AV Awards, organised by Haymarket Publishing's AV Magazine, and was considered as the Best-in-Show at this year's InfoComm with its R6 LED screen.
