Martin Introduces Light Beer

Austria’s largest privately held brewery, Stiegl, in Salzburg, is on the move. Following plans by the well-known Austrian architectural firm, Atelier Burgstaller, a newly-built brewing area was recently completed, actually a glass extension of the old building. The area is also used to hold seminars on beer and brewing and receives a good deal of visitors.
Modern brewing boilers – formerly made of copper - are today made of stainless steel. For that reason, and in order to create an authentic atmosphere for guests that resembles the older look of those traditional copper boilers, Lichtdesign of Salzburg proposed a controllable, dynamic lighting solution for the new brewing area.
Some 19 controllable Alien 02 color changers from Martin Architectural are now mounted in two circles on the ceiling to provide a variety of dynamic lighting looks. With the touch of a button tour guides or the brew master himself can change the atmosphere from a warm red and yellow copper tone on the steel boilers to a bright white light the brew master needs for periodic checks of the colour and sediment of the liquid.
Additional colour scenes have been programmed for special events that take place at the brewery. All scenes are recorded on the Martin Architectural LightCorder, an easy to operate light recorder that allows users to playback different lighting scenes at the touch of a button. Additionally, an outdoor lighting scheme that outlines the building was integrated into the control, as well as indoor art which receives extra lighting when needed. Programming and installation was by Eventa AG of Seeshaupt, Germany.
