Martin Professional Illuminates the egg

In October the Theatre Royal Bath opened the egg – an innovative unique theatre facility for children, young people and their families that has at its heart a 120 seat egg-shaped auditorium.

Martin Professional has contributed by supplying the latest fixtures free of charge, including MAC250s and MAC300s, DMX cabelling and a controller and Stage Electrics will be supplying full technical support, allowing budding young lighting designers the opportunity to work with equipment of the highest standard.

The opening night was packed with local dignitaries. Supporters of the egg also include James Dyson, Midge Ure, Peter Gabriel and Bel Mooney.

David Caulfield, managing director of Martin Professional attended the opening night. He commented: “Martin are delighted to be linked with the egg. We provide equipment for some of the biggest theatres and concert venues in Europe but when we heard about the egg we wanted to give young people the chance to learn about stage lighting with first class equipment right from the very start.”

Joe Wright, technical manager at the Theatre Royal Bath said: “We are grateful to Martin professional for their support. It can make all the difference to young people knowing that they are working with and gaining experience on the same type of equipment used by top professionals.”

the egg will allow the Theatre Royal Bath’s acclaimed Education Department – one of the largest in the country – to champion a year-round programme of theatre and performance for and by children and young people.
