IOA and ISCE Working Together
The importance of the IOA and the ISCE working more closely together was demonstrated in a practical way when the new President of the ISCE, David Hopkins OBE was present at the recent IOA Conference in Oxford in November. David Hopkins, who is an Associate Member of the Institute of Acoustics, took stand space as Audio Design Services Ltd.
At the Conference, David shared some of his ideas on training issues for the Institute of Sound and Communications Engineers with Tony Jones, the president of the Institute of Acoustics, Bob Walker, the chairman of the IOA Electroacoustics group.
It was generally agreed that members from each Institute should be encouraged to attend each other’s conferences, participating in lectures and taking stand space where appropriate.
At a time when regulations and standards are an issue over so many disciplines, the sense of institutes working more closely together seems to be eminently sensible.
