Outline is Hard Rock for Celentano
Brescia’s Outline has once again contributed to the sound reinforcement on one of the biggest TV shows of all time: Rockpolitik.
Written and directed by Adriano Celentano, the programme was aired live on RAI 1 for four consecutive weeks between October and November 2005, chalking up – as has always been the case with the famous Italian artist’s TV shows – exceptional record-breaking ratings.
In the colossal television studio in Brugherio – one of the largest in the world, fitted out with millions of euros’ worth of scenery and equipment – the studio audience heard the host’s and guests’ speech exclusively via 120 Micra II, Outline loudspeaker enclosures famous for having won their ‘colours’ in the field, having already been used on numerous prestige television events during recent years.
The reputation of these loudspeaker systems, distinguished by their unrivalled compact lines compared to their performance, is based on a fundamental characteristic: their ability to reproduce the human voice in a perfectly focused manner, but without ever ‘shouting’, always with natural timbre and high intelligibility.
For the area of the studio hosting VIPs, the enclosures chosen were eight Outline H.A.R.D. 212, well-known stage monitors with unique (patent pending) ‘acoustic architecture’, which continue to make a name for themselves in high profile events (for example, at the recent Live 8) thanks to their powerful feedback-free SPL figures, even higher than much heavier larger monitors. In fact, H.A.R.D. 212 systems weigh just 25 kilograms, even although they’re fitted with two 12” woofers and a 3” compression driver loaded with Outline’s proprietary S.P.R.W.G. (Single Parabolic Reflective Wave Guide).
Last but not least, as well as the Micra and H.A.R.D. enclosures, the main sound reinforcement in the Rockpolitik studio used Butterfly Vertical Line Arrays, another Outline system recently used on Live 8 and other prestigious events worldwide. Twenty-two CDH 483 hi-pack systems were flown to ensure long-throw wide dispersion coverage of the entire audience in the large television studio.
The Outline systems for Rockpolitik had the advantage of being used with the professional organisation of audio technicians from one of Italy’s best known rental firms: Agorą.
