Charity Power from Power Logistics
Eric Clapton, Jools Holland, Keane, Snow Patrol, The Manic Street Preachers and Goldie Lookin’ Chain were among the acts which performed at the Tsunami Relief Concert in Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, raising more than £1,250,000 for the charity.
When approached by the event’s organisers, Power Logistics were more than happy to donate their services and skills to such a worthy cause and jumped at the opportunity to offer power provision and electrical distribution. They used one 455 kVA CAT twinpack generator and one 250kVA twinpack, both kindly donated by Energyst Rental Services, to run production elements of the concert, including the stage, front of house tower, PA, lighting and video screens as well as the front of house bars and merchandising.
Terry Hamilton was Power Logistics’ project manager working with a team of four to ensure that everything went to plan. He explained: “This event ran extremely smoothly as a result of Nine-Yards’ production manager, Claire Samson, bringing together a team of experienced contractors who regularly work well together throughout the year. This ensured that everything ran without a hitch which was vital with the event being broadcast live.”
Beverly Wills, Power Logistics director, summed up: “There was a great atmosphere to this event as everyone was there for one reason and one reason alone – from the audience through to the whole management and production teams. The end result was so rewarding. To be part of this major fundraising concert and to know that you were contributing to making a difference to people’s lives was very important to us.”
