For McKenzie Read Academy Music Group

The McKenzie Group has announced plans to re-brand the organisation ‘Academy Music Group Limited’ (AMG), with immediate effect.

Since the completion of a management buy out in August 2004, the strategy for AMG moving forward in 2005 includes plans for new site acquisitions as well as expanding other areas of the business.

Commenting on the re-branding programme, John Northcote, chief executive officer of AMG says: “The Academy brand is synonymous with live music and the new company name reflects our core business and expanding venue portfolio. This year, we will be looking to increase our number of estates across the UK, develop our promoting division, Academy Events, and pursue our strategic growth for the Academy brand into new, music related areas.”

Academy Music Group is the UK’s leading owner and operator of nationwide live music and club venues, including South London’s award winning concert venue, Carling Academy Brixton, plus further Academy locations in Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Liverpool and Islington (London), as well as West London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire and Bar Academy sites in London and Birmingham. Its shareholders include concert promoters, Metropolis Music, SJM Concerts and MCD Productions (Eire).
