KSL B’Los Into Brighton/West Street
Sound installation consultancy KSL saw Brighton’s newest sound system spark into action this week at the opening of the city’s hot new club, B’Lo on West Street.
The system has been installed to the meet the club’s exacting requirements for a high-end system. Brighton-based KSL designed the system around Turbosound loudspeakers, QSL amplifiers and a dbx Driverack PA loudspeaker management unit.
B’Lo (pronounced ‘below’ – formerly The Joint) has a capacity of 200, and following a stylish refit is due to host a wide variety of events and music styles, from house and hip hop to open performance nights.
In addition, the venue demanded a quality and level of sound allowing clubbers to talk easily at the bar, as well as appreciating the volume on the dancefloor.
To achieve this, KSL configured a system anchored by four Turbosound THL818 bass enclosures, with eight Turbosound high-mid enclosures: four TQ308’s for the dancefloor and four TXD081’s in the bar area. These are powered by four QSC amplifiers: three PLX1602’s and a single PLX3002.
The company consulted the Turbosound R&D department to ensure that the loudspeakers were used to their optimum, further enhancing the quality of sound the system provides at the club.
“We’re delighted with how the opening night went, and with how the system sounded,” said Rob Euroh, promotions manager at B’Lo. “We’re confident the system KSL have put together will optimise sound for the varied nights we envisage for the club.”
The owners of B’Lo chose KSL due to the company’s professionalism, flexible approach and clear consultancy. KSL presented a sensible range of systems and configurations for a variety of budget levels.
“KSL took pains not to blind us with science,” explained Rob Euroh. “They explained the pros and cons of each option to us in a clear and straightforward way. And they were competitively priced, too.”
KSL also impressed B’Lo by attending the launch night, to ensure that all went smoothly and that sound quality was optimal.
“We believe that sound needn’t be complicated,” commented Billy Wood, Marketing Manager at KSL. “We bring a common-sense approach and professional ethic, and are happy to go the extra mile to achieve a quality and reliable sound system. We’re very pleased that B’Lo have recognised this.”
