Sunderland Firm On Sound Footing For Overseas Success

Sunderland based Eomac (UK) Ltd, has won contracts worth £70,000 in Ireland with the help of UK Trade & Investment - the government organisation that provides support services for UK companies trading overseas.

Established in 2001, Eomac UK is an independent subsidiary of Eomac Canada, specialising in the supply and installation of acoustic units in cinemas, theatres, sound studios and offices. The company also supplies screens and screen frames for cinemas, stadium rises and has recently added seating for cinemas, theatres and other venues to its portfolio.

Eager to expand its client base overseas, Eomac signed up to UK Trade & Investment’s Passport to Export programme to help it prepare for the major international exhibition Cine-Expo in Amsterdam in June 2004. The event provided the company with the opportunity to showcase its products to an international audience and establish contact with prospective clients.

As a result, the company won the contracts to fit out cinemas in Ireland with interior walls and soundproofing and expects to secure a further four contracts within the next two years.

Mark Eliot, managing director of Eomac said: “The advice we received from UK Trade & Investment ranged from how to handle overseas clients and raise our international profile to how to ship our equipment abroad. This has been imperative to our success overseas. We’re certainly planning a return trip this year and will be relying on UK Trade & Investment’s support to make sure we’re ready for the exhibition.”
