Gerhofer Plumps M1D Stock
Rental company Gerhofer of Munich, Germany, has bolstered its Meyer Sound stock, adding more M1D ultra-compact curvilinear array loudspeakers to bringing its M1D inventory to a total of 24.
Gerhofer, a long-term Meyer Sound user, values the M1D for its light weight and easy handling, as well as its self-powering, which makes it unnecessary for Gerhofer to carry external amplification. Gerhofer's Klaus Küssel finds both qualities to be invaluable assets in the live sound rental arena, but neither would mean as much without the M1D's clear, undistorted sonics. “The sound produced by the M1D is very versatile,” says Küssel. “It makes them ideal for us because we can use them for anything from live music events to TV studios.”
Gerhofer's client base is also a powerful factor in purchasing Meyer Sound. “For example,” Küssel explains, “we work with the three biggest art museums in Munich. They are often used as event locations, but the majority of them were built before acoustic design was commonplace, which makes it quite difficult to achieve good sound in them. We tested a lot of systems in these rooms and got the best results with the Meyer system, especially with the smaller loudspeakers such as the MM-4 and UPJ-1P.”
