Studer Goes Live
The latest release (V3.5) of the core software for Studer’s Digital Vista Series and D950 consoles contains new functionality that further broadens the consoles’ appeal to the live performance market.
Version 3.5 of this software includes the new Cuelist facility, which allows a series of CUEs to be listed and sorted — cues that may contain a snapshot of console settings and MIDI commands to trigger events.
The Vista 8 console has become rapidly accepted in the high-end live performance market in venues such as the Copenhagen Opera House, Hungary’s Palace of Arts, Norway’s Trondelag Theatre, the Taiwan National Theatre, and the Shanghai Oriental Arts Centre, as well as in the Studer’s core Live Broadcast market.
Other new functions within version 3.5 include very fast editing of snapshots. It is possible to overwrite or trim individual console parameters on multiple snapshots at a time. New facilities aimed specifically at the Live Broadcast market are ‘audio follows video’ and native support of external control of the console matrix.
MIDI Show Control-compatible software may be used to control the cue list window, but when used within a system utilising Harman’s newly-launched HiQnet networking system, the facility really comes into to its own with the console acting as central cue management for an entire audio system. HiQnet’s System Architect software may also be run directly from the console surface.
HiQnet allows the networking of various Harman audio components and the ability to control them from a central spot such as a tablet PC – or the Vista console. The cue list window of the console can then fire off HiQnet ‘Venue Recall’ messages that can change the settings of the attached HiQnet-based units.
