Alcons Audio in Frankfurt
Alcons Audio will present a number of new loudspeaker products plus a complete new product series at Pro Light+Sound in Frankfurt next week.
Although previously announced, the production version of the LR14, Alcons’ ultra-compact line-array module, will be on show. Featuring the patented RBN401 pro-ribbon driver and double 6.5” woofers with a dispersion pattern of 120 x 15 degrees, the LR14 is designed as either ultra-compact line-array system, or as under-fill of the LR16.
Of special interest will be the LR14B; this is the ultra-compact/light-weight high-output bass module of the LR14 line-array, with double Neodymium 12” in double-tuned band-pass configuration. The LR14B combines a very low weight with very high specific SPL output, making it an excellent low-frequency extension in both stacked and flown array configurations.
Main focus however will be on the official introduction of the Q-series. This spectacular new product series is based on modular line-source columns with lengths of 1 metre or 0.5 metre.
The series has been designed as a solution to obtain ultimate intelligibility in “acoustically challenging” environments. The scalable ribbon-arrays combine a very high directivity with totally controlled dispersion, in both vertical and horizontal plane.
At this time, the series consists of two models: the QR18 (0.5m length, with RBN1801 18” pro-ribbon driver and 3x 6.5” woofers) and the QR36 (1m length, with two RBN1801 and six 6.5” woofers). Both feature frontal bass reflex-loading and Alcons’ patented ‘Real-90’ horizontal dispersion.
In addition, a selection of other Alcons products will be on show, including the already famous LR16 ‘The Ribbon’ pro-ribbon line-array module plus the LR16B bass system and the VR8 and VR12 systems, which recently were used in London West-End theatre productions.
Alcons will be in Hall 8 booth number D15.
