Changing The Colour with SES

Changing The Colour with SES

This will involve approximately 200 pieces of kit purchased before early 2004 - when PRG instigated the new regulations ahead of their compulsory introduction on 1st Aprilt 2006 - and work had already commenced.

PRG chose SES for this meticulous task because of the speed, efficiency and reliability with which they could deliver the end result. SES’s Mark Cooper says: “It’s great to continue our very positive working relationship with PRG – the UK’s largest lighting rental operation. It endorses SES’s commitment to service and quality.”

This follows SES’s close collaboration with PRG in the run up to the 2004 Athens Olympics, when the two companies co-designed twenty-four 72-way MCB distribution boxes, which, says PRG’s Peter Marshall, were “expertly built and delivered ahead of schedule in time for the shipments to Athens.”

The colour conversion involves the old three phase connection colours changing from red, yellow and blue phases with a black neutral, to brown, black and grey phases with a blue neutral. Earth remains yellow and green.

The old Camlok connectors on the distros are all being replaced by Powerlocks, which utilise a bayonet mating method, and have been specially designed for the demanding environments of the entertainment industry.

The kit all comes back to SES’s headquarters, where it’s dismantled, re-wired and fully tested before being returned to PRG in Greenford to the new standard. The project is expected to be complete by late summer.

Each unit is also being given a thorough full SES 'MOT' and repairs where necessary, e.g. replacing faulty neons, etc., whilst with SES. There are approximately 15 different types of PRG distro requiring the conversion.

Peter Marshall further commented: "SES have presented us with many solutions to our mains distribution requirements over the last decade, I’d recommend them to anyone."
