d&b at AES in Barcelona

In keeping with their ongoing sound education and training programme d&b audiotechnik will be participating in this year's European AES convention. John Taylor and Ralf Zuleeg from d&b audiotechnik will present a three part session entitled ‘Loudspeaker line arrays’, this will take place at the CCIB in Barcelona on Sunday 29th May from 10.00 to 14.00.

John Taylor is an experienced presenter renowned in many parts of the world for his distinctive lively style, believing that if you are passionate about sound system design, then you need to make it sound good. John will begin with a presentation titled "De-mystifying audio techniques" embracing visual images, experiments and practical demonstrations. Discover what constitutes a well-behaved loudspeaker and how it affects what every listener in the house will hear.

Ralf Zuleeg has been involved in many d&b sound installation designs and seminars around the world. With his no fluff, no puff approach, he will take a look at the history of dispersion pattern control in loudspeaker systems. This will question why it is needed, and explain how line arrays have extended the boundaries of pattern control. He will conclude the line array part with a practical look and listen to several different configurations using d&b's Q-Series loudspeakers. Finally to round off the session both John and Ralf will look into steering low frequencies, the effects of array size on directivity, Cardioid Subwoofer Arrays and lastly the implementation of distributed bass arrays.

David Rosello from d&b's Spanish office commented: "I am really happy that John and Ralf are visiting Barcelona; their presentation styles are always friendly and their seminars memorable, so this AES session will definitely be one not to miss. By the end we hope that the information presented will help towards progressing d&b's goal of democracy for listeners."
