DiGiCo D1 Explained by TM Audio

TM Audio, DiGiCo’s distributor in The Netherlands, held a three-day seminar at the beginning of March for Dutch sound engineers wanting to learn more about DiGiCo’s range of digital mixing consoles.

The seminars were hosted by TM Audio’s Jaap Pronk and DiGiCo’s James Gordon, with four DiGiCo D1 consoles - and the James must have D5 - all set up in TM’s showroom allowing the attendees to produce their own 48-channel mix from a pre-recorded multitrack.

The 140 attending engineers were split into seven groups of 20 people, with five consoles available to each group, allowing them to gain proper hands-on experience with the consoles. “It’s very encouraging to find such a high standard of live engineers in The Netherlands, all of whom are anxious to learn the virtues of mixing with DiGiCo consoles,” comments Gordon. “It was a very relaxed environment where everyone could get to touch, play with and even see if they can break the console – but before another rumour starts, no one managed that! It’s a great way of doing things.”

“After our successful D5 seminars in March 2004, and the D1’s appearance in our Autumn Seminars last October, this years seminars are aimed at getting people to work on the D1,” explains TM Audio’s Marc Kocks. “We’ve had some great feedback with comments like: ‘Great hands-on training, this is the future!’ and ‘Thanks TM Audio, your seminars are legendary already. I will start saving for a D1 right now,’ so the reception to this product is already very good.”

''I am delighted to work with this product and the people behind it,” adds Pronk. “Hands-on training is the best way to sell the console and DiGiCo and James gave me all the support I need.''
