Kaleidoscope Monster

Following the interest in ECT’s projection screen participation at ISE in The Netherlands, where the ‘kaleidoscope’ attracted visitors to the booth, exhibitions will again feature later on this year for ECT.

The kaleidoscope idea originated from the children’s toy, commonly a telescopic tube, which contained changing images when twisted. This new monster, designed by Adam Flawn-Thomas, allowed observation from inside the structure. “It certainly gave us a talking point, and achieved its aim - being that bit different,” he said. Although ECT do not intend to add this display to their sale stock, it did use a POP screen to project the images onto mirrors using a Powerpoint presentation to produce the ‘planet’ appearance. The overall effect meant that images appeared to be floating and moving inside the box.

Future exhibiting plans include the Grand Designs Live! Show at Excel in London on 10-12 June 2005. However, the kaleidoscope will not be making an appearance! Four very different projection screen options will be shown for those aspiring to innovate their visual equipment within their living spaces.
