SSL’s AWS 900 Analogue Workstation Makes An Impact World-Wide
China, Japan, India, Spain, France, Germany and the UK are just some of the countries worldwide that have embraced Solid State Logic’s new AWS 900 Analogue Workstation – a revolutionary combination of compact world-call analogue mixing console and comprehensive DAW controller.
A wide variety of studios in all sorts of places, from major commercial facilities through to private project studios, have been quick to spot the AWS 900’s potential. The winning combination of SSL’s SuperAnalogue audio quality coupled with extraordinary digital control capabilities at an attractive price point has hit exactly the right note with studio owners, engineers, producers and artists. In this time of digital workstations and the redefinition of the recording process, the AWS 900 delivers what the industry needs on all levels of sophistication.
Among the many satisfied customers worldwide are Studio Mega in Paris and the French capital’s new School of Audio Engineering.
Studio Mega’s owner Thierry Rogen says: "When I first played with the AWS 900, I had no doubt about the sound quality, already owning 2 XL 9000 K series consoles, and an SL 9000 J series console. I have been completely blown away by the amazing power of the monitoring section and the workstation controller. It is fast, intuitive and is amazingly smooth and efficient. We have installed it in our Studio B, and the level of booking shows us it is already a hit!"
Mick Bruck, manager of SAE Paris, which recently moved to a brand new complex, says: “The AWS 900 is perfect for our new facility because it’s small, versatile and handy. We didn’t have room for a large SSL console, but we didn’t want to compromise on quality so we chose the AWS 900 because it fitted the space available. It’s also an ideal console for our students to use because it brings together the worlds of analogue and digital in a very clear and concise way.”
In Spain, Luis Villa, owner of studio and production company Uno Music, says he installed an AWS 900 because it was a cost-effective way of achieving the legendary SSL sound.
“The AWS 900 is my dream come true because it allows me to have the great sound of SSL at a price I can afford. It has made my job much easier because it interfaces so well with Pro Tools. My clients love it too because it sounds so good - and really, is there anything more important for any studio than getting the best sound?”
Dari-rc (Digital Audio Recording Institute and Research Centre) is the first facility in India to invest in AWS 900 technology. The New Delhi-based studio, which is owned by brothers Sarabjit and Gurpreet Babra, has installed an AWS 900 with Total Recall™.
“We handle a variety of world and classical music projects featuring artists such Anandmurti Guruma and Bhai Baldeep Singh,” Gurpreet Babra says. “We are very happy with our AWS 900, which we are using with Soundscape Red 32 and a TC System 6000.”
In Germany, producer Patrik Majer is delighted with his AWS 900, which has been installed in his Berlin-based Freudenhaus Studio.
"The AWS 900 is a marvellous piece of equipment - very sophisticated and a great idea by the people at SSL,” he says. “I was already familiar with SSL consoles so getting to grips with the AWS 900 was really very easy. I truly believe this is the most modern way to record and I'm delighted with the results I am achieving."
Given the technology involved in Solid State Logic's AWS 900 analogue workstation, it’s hardly surprising that it’s causing such a stir. Based on SSL's flagship XL 9000 K Series console, the AWS 900 is a revolutionary combination of a compact world-class analogue mixing console and a comprehensive DAW controller. It provides everything artists and producers need to record, edit and mix professional projects – all they have to do is add the workstation of their choice.
