Showlight Secrets and the Cutting Edge of Lighting

Immediately after this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which on 21st May goes out live to 39 European countries, Per and Ola fly to Munich direct from Kyiv in the Ukraine to talk about lighting Eurovision. Like Showlight, Eurovision attracts a massive worldwide audience and is also at the absolute cutting edge of lighting technology. As one of the biggest live television shows in the world, it has a long tradition of using the very latest lighting technology - in fact Eurovision is really a big beta test factory! Per is used to entertaining an audience of millions, so his paper is guaranteed to be one of the hottest seats this year (For a taste of the work that goes into the contest visit http://www.eurovisiondiary.com.).

Equally up-to-date - and with a large dose of intrigue - will be the presentation by Carol Sadler and Ian Dow, former chair of the Society of Television Lighting Designers. Titled Bargain! 99.5% off!, the content of their paper is highly secret and will not be revealed in advance of its delivery. However, it is known that they will reveal something which is likely to make an enormous difference to Lighting Directors, DoPs and Cameramen battling the sun, and which has - until now - never been seen outside the BBC. Delegates will have to be at the presentation to learn how their lives are about to be changed…

These two papers are just part of a much wider programme of seminars, product displays, events and backstage tours which are an integral part of Showlight 2005. Taking place from 22nd to 24th May 2005 at the Prinzregententheater, Munich, Showlight is a truly international event, attracting speakers and delegates from around the world, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Holland, New Zealand, Russia, Slovakia, Switzerland, the UK and the USA. Key sponsors include the Prinzregententheater in association with the Bayerische Theaterakademie, ETC and ARRI.

To register as a delegate e-mail register@showlight.org or visit http://www.showlight.org, where you can also see the full conference programme.
