Technologies Converge at The ABTT Theatre Show 2005

The 27th edition of ABTT Theatre Show (15th-16th June 2005, Royal Horticultural Halls, London) has broken its previous record with over 130 exhibiting companies, confirming its sell-out position.

   Set to be the most exciting yet, ABTT 2005 features a host of new product launches and presents a broad cross section of products and services designed for use in theatres and auditoria. Independently organised by The Association of British Theatre Technicians, it provides an exclusive opportunity to go “backstage”.

   Responding to the growth of integrated systems-led designs, ABTT 2005 delivers a convergence of technologies. From lighting systems and rigging, staging and high level access solutions, to sound, communications and broadcast solutions, ABTT embraces the entire technical spectrum, which includes the latest in seating and DDA solutions.

   ABTT 2005 is a one-stop shop for Architects, Engineers, Consultants, and Building Services Managers working in both new build and old theatre venues in the UK and mainland Europe.

   Amongst the nouveates on display, Maltbury staging will premiere its aluminium Steeldeck Ultra. Designed to be versatile and practical, its aluminium structure keeps the weight down, whilst adding a touch of elegance. The Revolving Stage Company will demonstrate its new ‘Revolve Solve Encoder Package’ – an off the shelf product designed to facilitate simple pre-programmable stage movement.

   Euro Seating UK will showcase its new reproduction-style chairs, which have been designed for traditional or English Heritage projects. Spanish seating manufacturer, Figueras, will showcase a host of contemporary seating ideas.

   On the lighting front companies including Martin and MA Lighting will present a host of advanced lighting fixtures. With recent projects including The Who’s Tommy European tour and the Moscow debut of Cats, PRG Europe will display its range of products and services as the consummate supplier of lighting to the business of entertainment and in particular the theatre.

   LX Designs will present its LxDesigner CAD package for lighting designers. Avolites will showcase its range of quality lighting control products, which are ideal for all types of theatre application, including its Pearl 2004 and the Diamond 4 series, plus its range of ART 2000 fixed installation dimmers.

   Lighting Logic will also present the new Xtc console from LSC – capable of handling up to 100 fixtures via its innovative PatPAD. In addition, the company will also display the new LSC EKO compact dimmer system; simple and economic, it has been used in theatre application with great success.

   Making its debut at ABTT 2005, Telectra will present its new ICELighting, which is a computer that believes it’s an entertainment lighting fixture. Lee Filters will show its new range of Quick Rolls, providing a fast and economic option.

   Building on last year’s successful show, Water Sculptures Ltd will display its 12 metre sectionalised back projection water screen system, which provides an alternative to standard screens whilst not compromising on aesthetics.

   Exhibiting for the second time, XL Video will highlight its diverse range of products and services, including the latest version of the Catalyst digital media server, the DL1 pan, tilt, focus, zoom projector, plus a variety of video LED products, including SoftLED and some powerful, highly compact video projectors.

   A host of high level access and contemporary rigging solutions will be showcased in line with new industry standards and ABTT’s own new proposed directive on the subject is to be unveiled at the show.

   First time exhibitor Summit Steel will present its vast stock of truss, hoists, and rigging hardware, in particular, its Kinesys Elevation movement system. Hall Stage will showcase its award winning DGS Counterweight Drive System, whilst Stage Technologies presents a variety of advanced automation systems. LTM-Lift Turn Move Ltd – ‘The Lodestar People’ – was launched in September 2004. LTM attends its first ABTT show, and will be highlighting examples from its comprehensive range of CM Lodestar motors.

   Track systems specialist Triple E is using ABTT 2005 as the launch-pad for its new Curtain Track System – the 3WAY range. Perfect for smaller stages and venues, it provides a robust and cost effective alternative.

   Amongst the broadcast solutions on display and making its international debut from Trantec is the new S6000HTX handheld transmitter. Designed for exclusive use with its award-winning S6000 radio microphone system that has been deployed on musicals from Broadway to the West End.

   Theatre sound specialist Orbital is doubling its stand space to launch its Pro Audio Sales Division. A wide range of installer and end user products will be displayed, including HME'sDX200 License Exempt Digital Wireless Comms’ System, SFX show control and sound FX software, Digidesign's Venue Console and Pro Tools editing suites.

   Loudspeaker manufacturer Martin Audio will showcase its new AQ Series, which has been conservatively styled to be architecturally unobtrusive, in an ultra-compact package. Also on show will be the new W8LMI - a compact line array enclosure.

   Underlining the potential of audio in theatre, d&b audiotechnik will present its Remote network. This provides central control and monitoring of complete loudspeaker systems using d&b Rope C software. The company will also showcase its new Qi-Series installation loudspeaker range.

   Alcons Audio will exhibit its Q-series, which completes the company’s range of “theatre sound solutions”, consisting of traditional point-source clusters, J-curved line-arrays and line-source columns; All based on proprietary pro-ribbon transducer technology.

   As the sole UK distributor for AXYS loudspeakers, Duran Audio will exhibit this range designed for theatre applications.

   Show director Roger Fox, commented: “We’re delighted by the positive up-take to the show this year. The diversity of our exhibitor base proves that there is a growing demand for integrated systems and new technical solutions in theatre and auditoria. We have put considerable investment into pre-show publicity and we’re confident that our 27th edition will be the most successful yet.”
