GSP Reveals Force of Red Bull and Star Wars at Monaco Grand Prix

London based events agency GSP was chosen by Red Bull to design its stunning Star Wars party, which celebrated Red Bull’s and Star Wars’ brand partnership at the 2005 Monaco Grand Prix.

Staged in Monaco’s Grimaldi Forum, the event involved an exclusive screening of Revenge of the Sixth – the sixth and final film in the Star Wars series – and an amazing AfterShow party. It was attended by over 400 VIP guests and celebrities, including George Lucas, Ian McDermot, Roger Moore, Eddie Izard and Christian Hayden, who mingled with Stars Wars characters, including Storm Troopers, Chewbacca and Darth Vader.

Designed to herald the new Red Bull F1 team, the release of the epic movie and the finale to George Lucas’ Star Wars saga, the party brought to life the combined forces of the brands’ and their F1 team.

GSP’s director, Emma Gold, collaborated with Philip Herzog from the outset to fulfil their brief and in only four weeks from being appointed, delivered a breathtaking event that oozed sophistication and creative flair.

Feature packed, GSP ensured that every aspect was managed with military precision. Maximising the tight three-week build up, GSP designed and built the set in the UK - bringing it and the party crew out to Monaco in nine trucks.

GSP used two auditoriums in the Grimaldi Forum. Whilst one was deployed for the screening in a 400 capacity cinema, the second was used for the Afterparty. GSP maximised its ‘theatre-style’ environment, creating the party set on stage.

Emphasising GSP’s signatory WOW factor, the party opened with an awesome ‘reveal’ sequence. Immersing the auditorium in Darth Vader’s distinctive breathing, the legendary dark character stood in front of the safety curtain, which rose on cue as he brandished his Lightsaber to reveal a magnificent laser and light show as well as the themed film-style party set.

Adding to the effect, GSP sourced a variety of original props from the film including, the Naboo Fighter, X-Wing Space Ship and various other character props. Working with their chosen scenic artists, GSP created true 3-D landscapes, which captured the intrinsic Stars Wars mood and added to the effect.

Combining an awesome DJ set by legendary Yoda and percussionists from Groove Armarda, with an exceptional ariel performance set the tone and ensured a vibrant party atmosphere.

Commenting on the party’s success Lucas’ Films’ Rick McCallum enthused: “I cannot thank GSP enough for all their incredibly hard work to make such a wonderful evening happen for us. It was a fantastic night for George and myself, and GSP made it all seem so effortless. Everything was beautifully organised.”

GSP’s director, Emma Gold added: “This was undoubtedly a challenging event, but one we so enjoyed perfecting. We drew from our experience to create a movie set with a twist that offered the WOW factor that we feel is essential to stand out and leave a lasting impression.”
