HK Audio Ensures Blooming Summer for Moonlight
Following its purchase last November of an HK Audio Cohedra Compact Coherent Dynamic Response Array system, German event specialist Moonlight has gone to super-size with the purchase of a Cohedra system. In addition, the company has become one of the first German owners of HK’s new ConTour CT 112 high-performance loudspeaker cabinet for professional nearfield sound reinforcement, purchasing eight cabinets.
Moonlight took the decision to purchase 12 CDR 208 S and 12 CDR 208 T mid/high cabinets having won the contract for BUGA 2005 in Munich. BUGA (Bundesgartenschau) is held throughout the entire summer, from late April to early October, and is a spectacular horticultural festival celebrating three gardening seasons in five months. Moonlight is responsible for providing all the sound equipment for the entire festival across five different locations throughout the summer, including Cohedra and Cohedra Compact at three of the stages. This totals more than 80 cabinets as well as the new ConTour cabinets, in addition to eight stacks of R-Series, and more than 70 VT cabinets from the T-Series, both from HK’s Concert Sound range.
“We purchased Cohedra as it is suitable for a great many different applications, which means we can use it for anything from conferences and general meetings through to large-scale open air events such as BUGA,” says Moonlight’s Markus Jaecklin. “It really does set new standards for its sound quality and easy handling.”
The three main stages at BUGA are the 18 x 18 meter Lake Stage, the 16 x 10 meter Arena stage and the Cultural Forum, where a variety of musical concerts, DJ appearances, theatrical performances and readings will take place across the summer.
The Lake Stage features two arrays each consisting of four CDR 208 S and four CDR 208 T each, with four CDR 210 C Subs and two HK PR 8 amp racks. Additionally, four ConTour CT 112s are being used as near and side fill. The Arena and Cultural Forum both have two arrays of six Cohedra Compact CDR108C mid/high cabinets, with four CDR 210 C Subs, two PR8 amp racks, two VT 108 nearfills and two VT 112 outfills.
Moonlight is using a further two Cohedra arrays of eight CDR 208 S and T cabinets at the BMW Bikermeeting, a venue for motocycle events
