Major Dutch Company Chooses Alcons
HOF audio/lighting/vision has chosen a complete sound system from Alcons. The system consists of 18 units LR16 ribbon line array modules with ALC4 controller-amplifiers and extensive rigging with four bumpers a.o. In addition, the AIM (Alcons InclinoMeter) digital incline leveling system has been added, enabling accurate bumper positioning.
The choice for the LR16 ‘The Ribbon’ was made after extensive experience with the system during a number of high profile concerts of the Dutch Horn Ensemble, North Netherlands Orchestra, the Marines band, Gala of the Dutch Song and the TOP 2000 in renowned concert halls such as Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, De Doelen theater Rotterdam and the Royal Theater Carré Amsterdam.
Dutch company HOF needed, next to its Meyer Sound M3D loudspeaker system, a more compact line-array system and evaluated several top-brand systems. Sound quality was one of the main decision factors, but also rigging and handling were of importance.
Bart Hof, owner of HOF is very enthusiastic: “The projection of the system is very impressive; it gives a very honest reproduction, perfect imaging, a crystal clear response and speech intelligibility is unsurpassed as a result of the ribbon technology. With the LR16 we offer a mid-sized solution to theatres, concert halls and corporate events. On a number of locations we found that we either had too much weight or not enough power and coverage. In the evaluation, the LR16 scored highest on all our criteria, thus making the Alcons system the logical choice.”
Hof continues: “Alcons Audio proves that their proprietary pro-ribbon technology, contrary to popular belief, is indeed very suitable for professional (high) sound pressure levels. The big advantage of the Alcons pro-ribbon technology is that there are no large, complex horns needed to obtain the cylindrical wavefront - the signal remains pure and undistorted.”
