Pathway Connectivity Relocates to Larger Facility

Pathway Connectivity has moved its operations to a new 7000 square foot facility in the historic Inglewood district of Calgary. Twice the size of the previous location, over 1500 square feet are devoted to R&D activities, while the manufacturing and warehouse space were doubled in size. The new R&D lab affords space for training seminars for both clients and staff – alternatively used for ping pong marathons when the schedule allows.

President David Higgins comments: “Improving in-house manufacturing capability was the main reason for the move. Our new manufacturing facility is comprised of three separate areas; a “clean” shop for final assembly, test, burn-in and repair, a warehouse for raw components and finished goods, and a machine tool workshop to accommodate prototyping and custom products manufacturing.

“We installed a new surface mount technology (SMT) production line in early spring. The system includes a state-of-the-art pick-and-place machine with 190-component feeder capacity, pneumatic stencil and a multi-chamber oven capable of lead-free temperature profiles. The system can place up to 5,500 components per hour. The new equipment has eliminated PCB assembly outsourcing, given us faster turnaround on custom devices and dramatically improved our ability to meet customers’ delivery requirements.”

Located in historic Inglewood, the oldest community in Calgary, Pathway is easy to find at Unit 103, 1429 17th Avenue SE. The Inglewood district is characterized by distinctive older buildings, which house retail shops, restaurants and theatres. The new Pathway facility is also close to the city’s pathway system and provides a safe, convenient route for employees to take advantage of a “green” bicycle commute.
