DiGiCo Adds EtherSound Connectivity
DiGiCo has licensed the open standard EtherSound protocol for digital audio distribution and will utilize EtherSound Authorized Implementor AuviTran to accelerate the development of EtherSound-enabled digital consoles.
"DiGiCo is proud to become an addition to the EtherSound family," says DiGiCo managing director Bob Doyle. "Utilizing this superb data transmission protocol to provide yet another solution to DiGiCo's customers in this ever-changing digital world."
DiGiCo marketing director David Webster explains further: "We wanted to expand our connectivity with other devices," he comments. "We've already got analogue, optical, AES/EBU, T/DIF/ADAT and others, so regardless of what you want to plug into you can. EtherSound is appearing on enough devices to make it a strategic addition to DiGiCo consoles in any signal chain."
EtherSound is an elegant, simple and open digital audio network standard with extremely low latency that is fully compliant with the IEEE's 802.3 Ethernet specification. "DiGiCo's rapid emergence as a leader in digital consoles is an example of how customer choices move our industry forward," said EtherSound business development manager Jimmy Kawalek. "As an open standard, EtherSound maximizes end user freedom of choice. We look forward to seeing DiGiCo products added to the wide range of options available to sound system designers using EtherSound connectivity."
