Euroscreens Treat Unitek to Heineken

Euroscreens Treat Unitek to Heineken

Specialists in providing image magnification (and video referee adjudication) for the Tetley Super League, Cheshire-based Euroscreens were happy to switch codes and return to the Scottish capital.

Two 24 sq metre LED displays were configured in 16:9 aspect ratio over the player tunnels/walkways; one consisted of Unitek’s V12 and the other the Unitek MS25 — offering identical 25mm pixel pitch.

Euroscreens took two vision feeds from host broadcaster, Sky Sports’ OB truck and played it out via a Panasonic MX50 vision mixer. They also triggered graphics via a laptop, using an MX12 (as a sub mixer).

In addition to the live action and video ref adjudication, Euroscreens also fed sponsors adverts to the Unitek displays, mounted from DVD players — using scan converters to present it in widescreen format.

Said Euroscreens co-director, André Davie, who handled production co-ordination and vision mixing: “Rigging wasn’t a problem as there were adequate flying points, and two Lodestar motors in the roof.”

His company have since ordered 24 further modules of Unitek’s advanced V12 system, containing the new ONE processor. This can drive up to 768 x 576 pixel screens operating in native PAL, NTSC or SECAM and features an infinitely variable Aspect Ratio Converter and programmable colour control, with unique motion/definition image enhancement feature.

The new V12 will go straight into the Super League programme where it will be seen by stadium audiences and Sky TV viewers alike.
